Instructor Style: – I have over 30 years of experience teaching Painting and Design at the Community College level. I will be retiring from full time teaching at the college level in December but would like to continue working with artists/students.

I have developed this course to help students understand the variety of materials needed to paint with oil and how to work with the material safely in a studio or home environment. Students will gain the ability to work with oil using traditional methods, including developing an underpainting and working fat over lean. Students will work from direct observation including photos and still life. It is recommended that students have basic drawing skills. Throughout the course, assignments will range from working with a limited palette to build values, before moving onto painting with a full range of colors. Class projects will include how to paint glass and white objects.
