Introduction to Beadwork with Jama Watts

Tuesdays, May 12th - June 2nd, 1:00pm - 3:30pm (4-week workshop)

Class Description:

Over the course of four weeks, students will learn the basics of bead weaving and embroidery. We will cover just the tip of the iceberg of what you can do with a needle, thread, and seed beads. From stitches like peyote and right angle weave to attaching beads to cloth, we will sew our way to creating small works of art. It's incredible what you can make with tiny pieces of glass!

Instructor will be providing the basics - bead mats, thread, needles, wax, etc.

Student supply list:

4mm square beads in 2-3 colors

1" button with shank

Size 11-cylinder beads (Miyuki Delica preferred) in 3-4 colors

Size 11 seed beads in 3-4 colors

Pencil

Eraser

Colored pencils, if desired (for laying out patterns)

Students only need to bring the square beads and button for the first class. We will go over bead options for the remaining classes during that session.
