Class Description:
Are you ready to recharge and explore the benefits of art, while connecting with others through your original painting? The Art for Wellbeing workshop is for you; an immersive, low-pressure studio experience designed to help you explore your inner voice, discover strategies to lower your stress level through art, and make new connections with others.
Whether you are feeling burnt out, or looking to try something new, this class is your opportunity to experiment with acrylics to create your original piece of art. During this three-hour workshop, we will prioritize experimentation with acrylics over the final product; using your art generation process as a bridge to mindfulness and enhanced wellbeing.
Carve out time to recharge with this workshop. You will leave with your original piece of art on canvas, and actionable strategies to boost your quality of life through your own unique art practice.
Come with an open mind and creative energy. All supplies are included (e.g., paints, brushes, and canvas).
Advice from previous students:
- "Be ready to work. Dress for mess. Be comfortable with 'I meant to do that.'" — M. B.
- "Please don't hesitate to share; to express everything in your mind [on canvas]." — T. P.
- "I encourage you to give it a try. You simply can't go wrong. The class will give you excellent grounding." — A. A.
MEET THE ARTIST:
Felicia Kaloydis is an acrylic and watercolor artist with over fifteen years of experience in art-making, who brings an eclectic depth to the teaching of acrylic painting to various age groups. She combines the mastery of acrylics in her art practice with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology, which creates a learning environment that goes beyond brush strokes; it focuses on the link between the artist’s core intentions and the canvas. Felicia’s artwork on the human connection to nature has been featured at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, as well as the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society.
As an instructor, Felicia specializes in simplifying the process of painting with acrylics. She utilizes her psychological expertise to guide students in overcoming creative blocks and honing their observational skills to create original artwork. Joining Felicia’s class provides a great opportunity for you to experiment with technical precision, while exploring your artistic preferences.
