Virginia Beach Art Center - Pottery Studio

Students of all levels are welcomed to grow in this wonderful art form. Hand building basics will be taught on the first night.

This class explores various hand building techniques to create individualized pieces of pottery using your imagination. Project suggestions are welcomed and will be integrated into class time based on the ability of the class members. Individual hand building project work is encouraged and will be supported by the instructor. Surface embellishment, slip trailing and carving, as well as glazing ideas will be touched on where students can try different techniques.

All classes include a 15-visit punch card for Open Studio time for students to work on projects between classes. Open Studio access ends 10 weeks from the date of the first class.

A 25 lb. block of clay comes with the class, and more is available for purchase. No outside clay is allowed.

Supplies needed: basic pottery tools, apron, towel and notebook
