Virginia Beach Art Center - Pottery Studio

Description of the class:

This class explores fundamental hand building techniques used to create ceramic forms. All skill levels are welcome, and students are encouraged to develop their unique style.

The class will cover the following construction methods: pinch and pull, coil, building solid, and slab. Through demonstrations, discussion, and guided projects, students will be able to expand their knowledge and skill-level. Glazing and other types of surface design will be introduced with opportunities to experiment. The class projects are varied, from functional to non-functional. Experienced students can opt to create a more challenging version of most projects.

Class includes 40-hours of Open Studio time for students to work on their projects outside of class. Open Studio access ends 2 weeks after the class ends unless student is signed up for another session.

A 25 lb. block of clay comes with the class, and more is available for purchase. No outside clay is allowed.

Shelf must be cleared the last day of class unless student is signed up for another session.
