Intro to Colored Pencils and Small Colored Pencil Painting Workshop
Saturday & Sunday, July 29 & 30, noon-3:30pm
- Review different types of colored pencils. Prismacolor vs other brands.
- Importance of substrata. Different types of paper.
- Techniques like layering colors, blending and burnishing.
- Finishing-UV spray etc.
By working small-less complicated subject matters-you can work with different color schemes and learn color theory faster.
You can build your comfort level with colors working smaller.
Supplies:
- Please bring a colored pencil set you have - doesn’t matter if it’s not a huge set of colors - we can work around that. At minimum: blue, red, yellow, brown, white. Or purchase a basic set.
- Paper - colored pencil paper like Strathmore 400 Series
- A pencil sharpener
- Colorless blender
- Pencil
Carol Joannette is a self-taught artist who creates works based on elements of her life reimagined and portrayed through the life of a sparrow. She has been showing work at the Artist’s Gallery and Beach Gallery here in Virginia Beach and in June ‘23 will be in the Crossroads Art Center in Richmond.
She has participated in shows at the Beach Gallery, the d’Art Center in Norfolk and here at the Artist’s Gallery where she has won some awards.
