Virginia Beach Art Center - Pottery Studio

For Advance Students

In this 8-week class, students will work on improving their pottery skills using the wheel, hand building and using different techniques trimming and finishing pieces. Demonstrations, hands-on instruction and expert guidance from instructor Angie Tripp will help you give you added confidence and skill with using the pottery wheel and hand build. Angie will help you relax and enjoy the clay experience. Glazing and finishing techniques will also be taught. Students will have access to our wheels, slab roller, tools, underglazes, glazes and other pottery studio equipment.

Class includes access during Open Studio for students to work on their projects outside of class. Open Studio access ends 2 weeks after the class ends unless student is signed up for the next session.

Shelf will need to be emptied on the last day of class unless student is signed up for the next session.

Supplies the student needs: an apron (you will get dirty--that's the fun, right?), a hand towel (it will get dirty too!), a notebook for notes, logging works that get fired, a basic tool kit (optional)

Supplies included in the class:

25 lb. block of standard studio clay (brown or white)

Glazing and firing included

No outside clay or glazes allowed.
