Virginia Beach Art Center - Pottery Studio

This class will cover various hand-building techniques that can be used to create functional pottery or sculptural work. Students will be given resources to help inspire their own creative endeavors, and they may propose projects that the instructor will help them achieve.

Some of the additional techniques that will be covered include:

• Slip-trailing
• Water-etching
• Texturizing clay
• Making your own underglaze transfers
• Making your own molds and texture tools

All classes include a 10-visit punch card for Open Studio time for students to work on projects between classes. Open Studio access ends 10 weeks from the date of the first class.

A 25 lb. block of clay comes with the class, and more is available for purchase. No outside clay is allowed.

Supplies needed: basic pottery tools, apron, towel and notebook
