Virginia Beach Art Center - Pottery Studio

Description of the class:

This is the time of year for spring cleaning. To help you organize, we’ll be hand-building functional items such as trays, lidded jars, and boxes. For those who enjoy sculpture, you can opt to add a face or to turn a basic shape into an animal or bird. We will also experiment with various types of surface design. The slab technique will be emphasized although building solid, the pinch pot method, and building with coil will also be options. The class is suitable for beginner to experienced students.

All classes include a 15-visit punch card for Open Studio time for students to work on projects between classes. Open Studio access ends 10 weeks from the date of the first class.

A 25 lb. block of clay comes with the class, and more is available for purchase. No outside clay is allowed.

Supplies needed: pottery tools, apron, towel and small notebook
